The order comes in the wake of the major fire in a coaching centre in Lucknow on Monday in which 15 people were killed and 9 others injured.

UP Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said here on Tuesday that all District Magistrates have been instructed to conduct a comprehensive survey of all coaching institutes operating in their districts and prepare a list.

“Strict action should be taken against institutions not registered under the Uttar Pradesh Coaching Regulation Act, 2002, as per the rules,” he said.
The minister said, “Registered institutions will also be inspected for safety standards. This will include inspections of building arrangements, fire fighting, electrical safety, and other essential systems. Any irregularities or negligence will not be tolerated”.
Higher Education Minister Upadhyay stated that the Yogi government is continuously working to ensure discipline, transparency, and accountability in the education system. The interests of students and parents are paramount. Coordination with all relevant departments will ensure that every coaching institute operating in the state adheres to the prescribed standards.
The Higher Education Minister stated that, in accordance with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision, a safe, organized, and reliable educational environment is being created for youth preparing for higher education and competitive examinations in Uttar Pradesh. The government’s priority is to ensure that every student receives a quality education and a safe learning environment, and that coaching institutes ensure 100% compliance with the prescribed standards.
A letter has also been issued in this regard by Special Secretary, Higher Education, Nidhi Srivastava in which, District Magistrates will launch campaigns in their districts to identify institutions operating without registration and ensure effective compliance as per the provisions of the Act, besides regular inspection of student safety, infrastructure and administrative arrangements in registered institutions will also be conducted.
